about
The busy streets of Manhattan are usually no place for daydreaming pedestrians. The crowd noise, rumble of the subways, buses, taxis and cars create a soundtrack that overwhelms the senses as we rush to get to work on time. However, in this story - our office-working hero finds that walking among the giant skyscrapers reminds him of a visit to the tall redwood trees in California, elevating his mind as he's "minutes late, but right on time."
lyrics
As I walk
through the streets
glass shadows
over me
From a car,
I hear beats
and a voice
that repeats
Elevator sliding shut,
pulleys hoist lifting up.
Lights flash as numbers climb,
minutes late but right on time
As I walk,
through the trees
semperviren & giganteum
Thousand years
In a day
Redwood spires
Seem to say
Elevator sliding shut,
pulleys hoist lifting up.
Lights flash as numbers climb,
minutes late but right on time
As I walk
Through this life
Pain and passion
Fear and delight
Like an act
In a play
Well the part
Night and Day
Elevator sliding shut,
pulleys hoist lifing up.
Lights flash as numbers climb,
minutes late but right on time
